Over the five days of Agoonoree, youths who are aged 11 – 15 years and have a disability or disadvantage, would attend as guests of the camp, participating in all aspects of camp life alongside similar-aged Scouts and Guides. All guests are young people from outside Scouting or Guiding.

Activities at the camp include abseiling, camp craft, film night, disco, sports and more. At all times the camp promotes fun, cooperation and friendship between all youth participants and creates an environment with a positive experience for all.

Fully trained and experienced Scout and Guide Leaders, including Leaders with qualifications in nursing and disabilities, are always on hand to support and supervise campers and the activities. Guest Support Team is available to support the troops, patrols and their Guest with managing daily routines, and strategies in dealing with stress, anxiety and other.

Agoonoree is organised into six troops of twenty-four Scouts or Guides each with a team of trained Adult Leaders. Twelve Guests are included in each troop and join a patrol along with the Scouts and Guides. The campers in these patrols become the Guest’s carers and buddies for the five-day event. Over the years many young people with disabilities who participated in Agoonoree have found it to be an enjoyable, memorable and confidence-building experience.

Eligibility to attend Agoonoree as a Guest

Aged 11 to 15 years with a disability or disadvantage. Due to the nature of the camp, we are unable to cater for youths who have a regular history of violent, aggressive behaviour or who find change and new people very difficult to cope with. Guest numbers are limited each camp, submission of an application does not mean immediate acceptance.
